Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding the piano in her attic, and becoming fascinated with its sounds. Parents May-Britt and Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a career or hobby but for growth. To achieve this she wrote her first new compositions. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. She decided to start performing her songs publicly when her mother suggested that they might help others not to gain fame with her work, but instead help the people around them understand their own importance and how they can affect the world. As a young girl, she began to play the piano. At age nine, she was writing music. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known by her family until she turned fourteen. Aurora's accomplishments were never the goal of her. The only thing she loves is writing songs. She claims that music is her preferred method to feel anything.
